Christmas Celebrations 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We may not be able to do all our traditional activities this year, but we will still be celebrating Christmas in school.  We have the following fun activities planned:

Wednesday 8th December – Christmas Song Day for junior pupils

Our older pupils will be singing Christmas songs and carols and performing poetry.  We will upload videos of the day so that we can almost celebrate together.  Please can junior pupils wear Christmas jumpers and/or Christmas hats today*.

Thursday 9th December – Christmas Dinner Day

Children will enjoy a traditional Christmas Dinner today.  If you would like your child to have Christmas Dinner, please pay for this using Parent Pay at the normal cost of £2.35.

Friday 10th December – Christmas Jumper Day

Children can wear their Christmas jumpers and/or Christmas hats today*.  All classes have special activities planned for today.

Friday 10th December – Breakfast with Santa (Foundation Phase)

Foundation Phase pupils will have breakfast with a very important visitor!  Santa himself will be coming to see us!  Foundation Phase pupils will enjoy a mid-morning breakfast of pancakes, fruit, drinks and treats.  We would be grateful if a contribution of £2.00 is provided.

Santa will also be visiting our junior classes during the morning so listen out for the sleigh bells everyone!

Friday 10th December – Cinema Trip (Junior Pupils)

Junior pupils will enjoy a trip to the cinema in Ystradgynlais to see “A Boy Called Christmas”.  Consent forms have already been sent out.  Please can children bring a treat for the cinema – one bag of sweets or a piece of fruit.

Tuesday 14th December – Carols Around the Cilffriw

Junior pupils will be carolling around the village to bring some festive cheer.  Our route will be:

9.30 Pisgah Chapel

9.50 Cilffriw Shop

10.15 Parc Penscynor

Then back to school to warm up with hot chocolate!

Wednesday 15th December – Special Visitors to Class 7 and Class 8!

On the last Wednesday we are very excited to have Bailey the Therapy Dog visiting Class 7 and Class 8.  The children in Class 7 have written letters to Bailey and we are so pleased he is able to visit.  We also have another special visitor – Mrs Richards is coming to see us!

Christmas Holiday Dates

The last day of term is Friday 17th December 2021.

The Spring Term will begin for all pupils on Wednesday 5th January, 2022.  Tuesday 4th January is an INSET DAY for staff training.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your support and partnership with Cilffriw School.  We hope that 2022 is a better and more settled year, and that next Christmas we can all celebrate together again.

Cilffriw School Staff wish all our families

A Very Happy Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.

* Christmas hats, t-shirts and other items of festive clothing are perfectly acceptable on Christmas jumper day – as long as children have warm and waterproof clothes with them for break times.  Please do not feel obliged to buy new Christmas jumpers.
