Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s brilliant to have our school full of pupils again, and to know that they are learning safely with their friends. We are starting to see regulations being eased a little more, the infection rates are low and the vaccine rollout is a huge success.
In school, we are still being extremely careful. We have been extremely fortunate to have had no cases of Covid-19 in school, and we could not have done this without the support and consideration of all our parents and carers. Thank you so much!
All schools are still operating under the NHS and Welsh Government guidance – this has not changed. Please remember: Do not send any pupils into school if ANYONE in your household is displaying symptoms of Covid-19.
The symptoms are:
- a high temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste: this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
If any member of your household has one or more of these symptoms, you must self-isolate for 10 days and apply for a Coronavirus test. The test must be the official NHS test – not the lateral-flow home test kit. The home test kits are not as reliable or accurate as the proper tests.
One day we may be able to relax these regulations but we are not safe yet. Please remember that positive cases in school still mean that entire classes have to self-isolate, and we don’t want any of our pupils to miss any more school this year if at all possible!
