October Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am pleased to report that during October we have only had one positive case of Covid in the school.  It was quite a bumpy start to the year: we had 45 positive cases in September!  However, it appears that this was an initial “wave” of cases due to the new isolation rules, and everything has now settled down.  We are relieved to be teaching full classes again.  The isolation rules are still important so please do not send children to school with a cough – keep them off until you have had a negative PCR result.   Also, please remember that if your child is sick you must keep them off school for 48 hours from the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea.

School Photographs

On Thursday 21st October the school photographer will be here.  She will be taking individual photographs and photos with siblings.  You can then choose which photos you wish to purchase.  Please note that we cannot take family groups that include children who are not in this school.

Healthy Minds Day

Friday 22nd October is a non-uniform day for Mental Health Awareness.  Pupils can wear colourful clothes to make the school happy and bright.  All classes will take part in a day of activities focused on being happy, having good friendships, staying calm and being resilient.  It will be a fun day to finish the half term.

October Half-Term Holiday

The October holiday is from Monday 25th October to Friday 29th October.  The first day back will be Monday 1st November.

Flu Vaccinations

On Monday 29th November the Fluenz nasal-spray vaccinations will be administered to all pupils from Reception to Year 6.  Please keep an eye out for the letter which will come home during the first week back.  You can choose for your child not to have the vaccination.

Bug Club

Bug Club was a useful resource during the period of home-learning, but it has not proved to be a replacement for real books.  Instead of renewing our subscription we have invested in more reading books for school.  We will no longer be using Bug Club.  Mrs Lambert-Jones has sent out a link for eBooks from our reading scheme that you can access at home instead.

School Clubs

Now that things have finally settled down, we will be starting up some of our own after school clubs.  We will be restarting sports/netball clubs and introducing a Fun and Games Club after the holiday.  Sunshine Club will also be starting up soon.  These clubs run from 3.20 to 4.20.  I will send out further details next week.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me on the school number.  I hope you have a healthy and happy half-term, and a not-too-scary Halloween!

Yours sincerely,

Mark Quin
