School Organisation January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday, we were informed that all Neath Port Talbot schools will now extend online learning until 18th January.  This means that the school will only be open to the children of Key Workers from tomorrow to the end of next week.  I have now contacted all relevant parents and carers by phone.

Pupils at Home

Online learning will be provided to all pupils.  We are now putting together lesson introductions by video that you will be able to access at home – this is a new skill for teachers so please bear with us as we are also learners!  Online learning will be available via the website and the homework files that pupils already use.  Class teachers will communicate with you directly regarding the work they are setting.  Paper copies of work will be made available for collection from the school office – please let Mrs Uzzell know if you require this facility.

Provision for Key Workers’ Children

This will start at 8.40 am and end at 3.00 pm for all pupils who are attending the provision.  Aberdulais pupils will be brought to school by bus, although there will only be one bus due to the lower pupil numbers.  Breakfast Club will be provided from 8.20 am.  Hot meals will be provided at lunchtime.

Teachers will need to have time to provide online learning as well as teaching pupils in the provision.  To support this, we will combine pairs of classes that are already in the same area to make new bubbles.  Staff will then be working in school on a rota.  This importantly also protects our staff during the current situation.

Mrs Goss will take Reception and Nursery, Mrs Richards and Mrs Godding will take Year 1/Class 7 on alternate days, Mrs Lambert-Jones and Mrs Williams will take Year 2/Class 8 on alternate days, Miss Davies and Miss Matthews will take Year 3/4 on alternate days and Mr Tay and Mrs Barnes will take Year 5/6 on alternate days.

Children in the provision will be kept in these bubbles throughout the day and our hand washing and social distancing procedures will be carefully observed.

As always, please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Quin
