We have had a busy and fun packed first half term in Year One!
We’ve been learning about new sounds every week and various number skills since the start of term!
We’ve been learning how to travel safely across the apparatus and moving like Superheroes!
We also enjoyed some yoga and meditation to celebrate our ‘Wellness Day’.
Year One have also enjoyed going on welly walks to our local woodland Craig Gwladys to look for signs of Autumn! We collected various Autumn objects to go into our Tough Tray in class. Da iawn Dosbarth Un!
The children took a particular interest in pumpkins so we had lots of fun investigating the different types of pumpkins and what was inside them! We even carved our own pumpkins in class groups! Year One showed great creative flare and collaboration skills when completing this activity!
For our Wellness Day, the children shared great ideas and talking points all about our feelings and the reasons we may feel this way. We then sorted our mood cards into different categories to match the feelings we initially identified as a whole class.
After talking about our emotions, how important they are and how they can impact our day, we focused on the emotion ‘happiness’. We decided as a class that baking is an activity that makes us all happy! So we decided to bake some pumpkin biscuits! We thoroughly enjoyed baking and decorating our biscuits, but we had much more fun eating them. They were delicious!
