Jubilee Celebrations

We will be celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee during the last week of this half term. We have lots of activities and events planned to mark this very special occasion.

Jubilee Week – Monday 23rd May to Friday 27th May

All classes will take part in lessons and activities to learn about our longest reigning monarch during this week, as part of a Jubilee project. Younger pupils will be making their own crowns and decorations for the Jubilee party. Junior pupils will be making commemorative Jubilee plates from clay, decorating them and firing them in the kiln. They will also be designing their own royal coat of arms.

Community Timeline Project

Pupils will also take part in creating a timeline for our school and community over the last 70 years. If you have any photos (that you would be willing for us to share online) or any stories or memories about life in Cilffriw and Aberdulais over the last 70 years, we would love to be able to add them to our timeline. We will have any photos copied and make sure you have the original returned safely.

Jubilee Picnic Party – Thursday 26th May

We will have our special celebration on Thursday 26th May. Pupils will enjoy a party picnic outside in the school grounds. We will be supplying cakes and treats for the children. Please can all pupils bring a packed lunch – sandwiches and a drink (and treats if you wish) – for the picnic. If you are entitled to free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided for your child/ren.

The Picnic Party day will be a non school uniform day. Pupils can wear red, white and blue if they wish! Trainers or sensible shoes are required as we will be outside in the woodland and on the field.

Hot Dog Dinner – Friday 27th May

On Friday we will round off the week with hot dogs and chips, and ice cream sundaes, for a special school dinner.

Commemorative Jubilee Book

All pupils, from Nursery to Year 6, will receive a commemorative Platinum Jubilee book as part of the celebrations – something to have as a keepsake to remember this special celebration.

Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday – Monday 6th June

Please note that school will be closed on Monday 6th June. The Jubilee bank holiday falls within the half term holiday, so all schools must take the holiday on a different day. After the May holiday, the first day for pupils will be Tuesday 7th June.
