SPORTS DAY LETTER

21st June 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a long time since we were able to invite you into the school!  I am delighted that we can invite you to join us for sports day again this year.  The arrangements for the day are as follows:

SPORTS DAY – Friday 1st July 2022

9.15 INFANTS Races

10.30 JUNIOR Races

1.00 Nursery “Fun on the Field”

We will hold the events in the morning so that the field is cooler if we get a hot day. Please will you note that Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will begin at 9.15 a.m. and Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 will start at 10.30 a.m.

Nursery parents are invited to join in with games and fun activities with their children on the field after lunch. More details will be given in a letter from nursery staff.

After Sports Day, all children will return to their classes for the rest of the day as normal.

We should be grateful if all children could wear shorts and tee-shirts to school to save the bother of changing. Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 have been placed in colour houses so, if possible, please dress in the appropriate coloured tee-shirts.

Health and Safety Advice:

  • IMPORTANT: Please make sure every child brings a bottle of water.  Also, please remember to bring drinks for yourselves!
  • Make sure that the children are wearing sun hats and sun cream in the unlikely event that it’s sunny!
  • Please stay back from the finishing line as grouping here makes it difficult for the children taking part.  Also, please don’t allow little ones to play on or cross the running tracks.
  • It’s a good idea to bring lightweight chairs or a rug to sit on.

How to get to the field:

Walking – please come through any of the main entrancesand follow the paths to the yards.  The path from the shelter is the easiest choice.  Once you are on the yard, go left and through the open gate.  There are steps down to the field.

Alternatively, you may walk in through the gate on Penscynor Lane.

Driving – the gate will be open for plenty of convenient parking in the lower field with access from Penscynor Lane.  Please drive slowly down this narrow lane with respect to the residents who live there.

We look forward to seeing you all!

Yours sincerely,

MARK QUIN
