Dear Playgroup parents,
It was great to meet you all on Tuesday for our first meeting of the new playgroup. Thank you so much for coming despite the horrible weather! I hope the morning was enjoyable for everyone, and that you had time to relax and chat to other parents. I had some important conversations during the morning about our plans for wrap around care, so I thought I would give you all a quick update. We used to offer an hour of inexpensive after school care run by our own teaching assistants, but due to national budget cuts, we no longer have the staff hours to offer this provision. During the last year, I have worked with Michelle Jenkins (Neath Port Talbot Childcare Manager) to advertise for a childcare provider to use our school to set up a new after school club. However, after 4 adverts, we have had no interest.
We are now sending out an advert to see if we can set up full wrap around care – hopefully from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm, with an afternoon nursery provision. This is much more financially attractive to childcare providers and we are likely to have success. The advert will go out next week and I will receive the expressions of interest by early December.
Hopefully we will be able to have wrap-around care in place by Easter. I will keep you updated.
