What are Areas of Learning Experience?

Rather than having a list of separate subjects such as Maths, English, Numeracy, Literacy, Physical Education, Welsh, International Languages, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economics, Art, Music, Drama, Design, Technology, Religious Education, Personal and Social Education, (it’s a long list!) schools now only teach 6 Areas of Learning Experience. This ensures that pupils learn more effectively by making links and transferring skills between different subjects.

The Six Areas of Learning Experience are:

Languages, Literacy and Communication

Mathematics and Numeracy

Science and Technology

Humanities

Heath and Wellbeing

Expressive Arts
